Awaken the Goddess Day Retreat: Saturday, August 2



Our AFTERNOON SESSION will be dedicated to renewing our spirit and filling our space and heart with positive light. We will do this through a powerful clearing and protective chants, visualization, and meditation. During the Chakra activation, we will Open each of our 7 chakras and connect to ourselves. We are also excited to introduce the Massage Therapist for our Awaken the Goddess Day Retreat. Jessica Heno Bonnet of NOLA Maternal instincts will pamper all of our Goddesses, providing Therapeutic Massage from 2pm-3pm to close out our beautiful day retreat. This service will be provided as we receive energy and light through Reiki for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

Here are your Class options this summer...

1) Belly Dance Goddess Hour
An hour filled with belly dancing drills and skills, no previous experience necessary, great for beginners to advanced dancers. We will increase circulation, flexibility, and balance. We will dance and awaken the inner goddess while we work on muscle tone and control. Learn and build on your skills through isolations, layering, and sequences. Learn a short sequence in this 3 day session.

This class is part of a 5 week - 10 class shimmy challenge. If you are interested in dropping in, you are always welcome. Just note: We will be working on technique, dance sequences, combinations, and choreography. It's always fun to try even if at a more advanced level than where you are! Every class includes conditioning and toning as well as cardio work so it's a great way to include dance in your exercise routine. It is an open level class, there are belly dancing lovelies at all levels: intro, beginner, intermediate, and advance. Email me if you'd like to drop in km@karlamariefineart.com

I have added the make up classes I mentioned to those of you who missed a class.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME to these. Your 10 class card will cover these classes (either as a make up if you missed classes or as a bonus if you haven't missed one. Bring your class card to all classes).

Also, Kim will be offering her house for an extra rehearsal or two. 
She will let you know when so y'all can get some extra practice in.

PRACTICE VIDEO:
I'm working on a video so you can practice the choreographies. But also, I wanted to give you the option of recording it in class on Thursday. That way, you can get the angle that you feel is most helpful to you. Also with the mirror you can film from behind and still get the front angle. 
I will go through both routines so you can get a chance to record if you would like at the end of class.

Options for extra midriff coverage:
(I LOOOOVE these, they are professional dancer stockings so pull up all the way up to your bra and are great for added support and comfort. I just cut the stockings off at right above the knee)

  • You can also add fringe (purchased at fabric store) in the same color of your bra and scarf. 

Choreography #2
If you are doing the Bounce choreography, our costume will be tribal inspired. 
You can wear any black coin bra (gold or silver) with black bottoms (can be yoga pants, tribal pants, skirt, etc.)
You can also choose the black costume for the Warda Warda performance and use the same bra for the Bounce choreography

What is the commitment?

  • Attend at least 8 of the 10 classes scheduled between April 23-June 5 to prepare for the showcase
  • Purchase the Belly Dance costume selected. Costumes will be ordered together. Payment will need to be made by May 15, 2014
  • Be available to perform Sunday, June 8, 2014 (Be available for the duration of the event and pre-event rehearsal approx. 11am-4pm)
  • Purchase a class card and pay for the cost of your lunch on the day of the event.
