Want to perform in our Showcase?

I am working on our upcoming Belly Dance Student Showcase. This showcase is optional for any and all of my Belly Dancing students, beginners, new students, current students, and advanced students. Performing is such an amazing experience!!! The learning process.... the costumes... the practices... the rehearsals... the performance... so awesome! An experience like no other.

October 25, 2015

We will include 4 choreographies:

1) WARDA WARDA:
A Beginner Choreography (with the Basic 12 moves we learn in my Beginner Intensives and drill in class).

2) BROOKLYN BALADI:
A Tribal Fusion piece which is a Beginner choreography that includes Basic 12 moves along with some layered Intermediate moves and incorporates Tribal Fusion stylization and quicker step changes which move it into the Intermediate category.

3) OJOS ASI:

An Intermediate Choreography (fast paced- 6 minute choreo) This is super fun, lots of tempo changes, to Shakira's song "Ojos asi LIVE" version

4) DRUM SOLO:

A short 1:12 drum solo (a great start up drum solo for any lovely wanting to try it)

NEW STUDENTS, Intro LEVEL STUDENTS, BEGINNER STUDENTS, INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED STUDENTS

(Dedicated students can properly prepare to perform in 6-8 weeks, even if at an intro level)

How will we prepare for this showcase?
Starting in August... we will have a 6 Week Belly Dance Technique Intensive to work on the specific moves for the choreographies we will be performing, as well as layering, traveling, footwork, arm and hip work to prepare for the choreographies.

Then mid-September to October we will have a 4 week-6 class Belly Dance Choreography Intensive to prepare for the showcase. We will drill the 4 choreographies. Students can choose from 1 or all 4 of the choreographies to perform. Performing in the showcase is completely optional. You can still join the session and learn the choreographies even if not performing in the showcase.

Updates and Details about showcase, costumes, choreographies, etc. will be posted on the Facebook page.

We want to see your belly jiggle!

What is the goddess circle? What if I'm not a dancer? I'm not coordinated! I have two left feet! Everyone better be ready to laugh! I don't have time! No one wants to see my belly jiggle! I'll come when I lose weight!
... I hear these things all the time when I speak about belly dancing class....

Join us! Challenge all your insecurities, face them and say: I am beautiful, I am graceful, I am strong, and I need to dance!

About the Goddess Circle: We're not here to judge, just here to dance. We want to connect with the inner goddess, we want to open our chakras and tap into the powefful, creative, positive energy that lives deep in our hearts.

We have insecurities, we have stress, we have too much to do and too little time, too many responsibilities, sadness and hurt... That's why we dance! Because "Hard times require furious dancing!" Join the goddess circle!

Blessed by the Dance Goddess!

During my eldest son's high school years, my middle ones transition into middle school, and my baby's first years of life, it was very difficult to travel... even on short weekend trips. Their schedules, as well parental and school financial obligations, took priority. After our oldest settled in his first semester in college, it seemed there was a shift allowing some wiggle room. I set out to train, as often as possible, with as many master instructors as possible, in the belly dance art form.

Since January 2015, I have had the honor of learning from and training with Suhaila Salimpour, Isaam Houshan, Amani of Lebanon, Lebanese Simon, Valerick, Aziza Nawal, and next Tuesday with Zoe Jakes.

My belly dance experience started with Bozenka and Tamalyn Dallal in 2005 through the incredible MidEastern Dance Exchange in South Beach, as a Katrina transplant....never did I imagine this is where my belly dance journey would take me! I am beyond excited, and all I can do is zaghareet! Love, light, and happy shimmies!

So what does one do after being inspired by these amazing, legendary belly dancers and master instructors and their passion for dance? You share the love!

See you in class lovelies. I have so much to share with you... Signature moves, strong technique, new stylizations, Lebanese funk, shimmy combos and moves, zils & drills... it's going to be an awesome year for belly dance! Now is the time to join us!
